Running on the roads: Last year some competitors did not listen to our race briefing where we specifically told you to NOT RUN ON THE ROADS. Auckland City Council officials were at our event and almost shut us down due to some people simply being dangerous and silly. This time our own course marshalls have been instructed to pull you off the course if you are seen running on the road and Auckland Cily Council officers will once again be attending our event and will also pull you off. Please note that Old North Road will be completely closed to traffic and coned off this time around.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Starting from in front of the Orewa Surf Club you will head north to the very end and up the boat ramp next to the Orewa Sea Scouts building. In this carpark is where you will find your last public toilets. You will head under the Orewa North bridge (DO NOT RUN OVER THE MAIN ROAD) and north over the bridge then left up Old North Road. Keep going until you get to Eaves Bush scenic walkway and make your way through there all the way to the bridge at the bottom. Do not take any other paths through the bush here or you might get lost. You will find a marshal half way through Eaves Bush who will have a first aid kit if needed. Eaves Bush is very narrow in parts so please travel single file and be mindful of the steps and overhanging trees through here.

You will come out of Eaves Bush onto a metal path (mind your step) at Kensington Park and head along Kensington Drive where you will find your first drink station thanks to the residents. Pass the drinks station and around into Puriri Blvd right up to Landmark drive. Left here and down a metal path (mind your step) which takes you down to Millenial Way. To the end of Millenial Way and left over Westhoe Road to the corner. Carry on right towards the roundabout at the bottom of Grand Drive and through the next roundabout into Hatton Road. Turn right off Hatton into Denham Way then right again into Lakeside Drive. Keep going and you will soon be at the 2nd drinks station and the turn off right up Grovnor Drive for the 10.5km competitors. At the top of Grovnor turn right down Grand Drive then left at the roundabout.  You guys are now on your way HOME.....

21km competitors keep going around Lakeside Drive and you will be lead onto a path that will take you onto the new Cycle/walk way. You are now on your way to Millwater Estate in Silverdale. There are plenty of marshalls to help you find your way and eventually you will get to the turnaround cone. You guys are now on your way HOME....

5km beach run/walk competitors will stay on the beach heading south first then all the way to the north end of the beach before heading home. There will be fluro green turn around flags placed there for you.
