Q Can you seperate the runners from the walkers and have 2 seperate starts.

A Unfortunately this would create too many starts and too much for our team to control. We do however encourage walkers to start behind the runners.

Q Will drinks other than water be supplied at the drink stations

A No, we did add a flavoured water in 2009 but got complaints that it upset some competitors tummy's. We cannot have people out on the course with stomach cramps so decided that water was the only safe option. Competitors may leave their own drink bottles at the drink stations or have a friend hold a bottle for them. We also suggest you carry lollies or gel sachets with you if you think you might need them.

Why does your event not start earlier in the morning

A Because the tide would be in and competitors would get wet feet

Q Do you think soup might be a good idea at the drink stations

A No

Q Is there somewhere we can leave our keys and gear at the start line

A Yes at the massage tent there is a box for keys and clothing. They cannot be held responsible for your gear though so leave it there at your own risk

Q I found it very difficult running on the beach would you ever think about changing the course

A If we changed the course we would have to change the name of the event. It is the OREWA BEACH Half Marathon after all

Q How long do you think the event will take me

A Good question, how long is a piece of string

Q What happens if it rains on the day

A You might get wet

Q What should I wear

A Clothes would be good

Q If I don't get a timing chip how will I know what my time was

A Wear a watch
